Tirumala Devasthanam Temple

Tirumala, where Lord Venkateswara resides, is situated in Andhra Pradesh, India. Tirumala consists of seven hills – namely Seshadri, Vedadri, Garudadri, Anjanadri, Vrishabadri, Narayanadri and Venkatadri – representing seven hoods of Adi Sesha. Lord Venkateswara’s Temple is situated at Venkatadri.

The Temple is a huge one with four Mada Veedhis, where Utsava Murthy of the main Deity makes a trip in the evenings, daily.

Lord’s marriage with Sri Devi and Bhoodevi takes place daily at noon. Devotees book tickets in advance to participate in the Wedding. It is broadcasted in Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi channel with running commentary.

Brahmostvam : During Aswayuja month, when Navaratri festival is celebrated, Brahmostvam of Lord Venkateswara is performed. Lord Venkateswara – wanders in the Mada Veedhis, both in the morning and evening in different kinds of Rathas, The Lord is dressed up in different varieties, along with Sri Devi and Bhoodevi.

Devotees:

Most of the Devotees shave their heads as an offering to God. Devotees all over India visit this temple and it is always crowded. Devotees have to wait for minimum 6 to 8 hours for Darshan of the Lord.

Sarva Darshan is provided for poor devotees (free of cost).  Others can participate in Different Sevas to the Lord, by donations.

Pilgrims all over the country reach Tirupathi, by train, bus or flight. Only Devasthanam Buses are allowed to go up. Cars and Vans are allowed. As there are lots of curves on the hill roads, Drivers must be well experienced and drive with precautionary methods.

Devotees offer their contributions by Cash in the Large Hundi. This money is utilized by Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) for promoting facilities to Devotees, running Veda Patasala, Colleges and many more social activities.

Free Group marriages are conducted by TTD for financially poor people at various places.

Usually Foreigners stay in Five star / three star hotels. For those who do not find accommodation in hotels, Residents of Delhi, have now started B & B. i.e. Bread & Breakfast (cooked fresh food) along with furnished Rooms at a cheaper rate.
